Description of Services

The staff of Student Conduct Education and Administration contact and meet with students to assess situations of possible non-academic misconduct as described in the Student Code of Conduct. SCEA offers education, challenge, and support to students who may be struggling with behavioral issues and enforces OSU's community standards.  SCEA also offers a mediation service, operates the Back on TRAC alcohol and drug treatment program, and provides outreach, training and consultation to the university community.

The University Philosophy on Student Discipline

The University’s philosophy on student discipline is educational in nature. The University recognizes that students will make mistakes and some poor choices at times. SCEA is charged with helping students learn from their choices and holding them accountable for their behavior. Students learn from their coursework, but also from their nonacademic behavior. SCEA assists students in ethical, personal, and intellectual development as well as developing character and integrity. SCEA offers education, challenge, and support to students struggling with behavioral issues, as well as makes referrals for counseling, programming, and service learning.
